Current Event

The main point of this article is to inform everyone about the damage that has been cause because of a tornado.  Many people have never experienced a tornado so they don't know what its like or what they can do. The tornado in Joplin killed several people in injured many. It also destroyed many buildings including a hospital which is very important at a time like this when there are people injured who need help. It also caused many people to be without electricity or even homes. Joplin was right in the path of the tornado.

I think that tornado's are a horrible thing. It can change many people lives. People can lose family, friends, houses and many other important things. Tornados hurt and kill many innocent people. It's sad to see how many people die in one place at one all because of a tornado. It must be hard to live somewhere that you have to worry about that type of stuff happening to you.

Acid Rain

1. Acid rain is caused by sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.

2. There is so much acid rain in Pennsylvania they burn a lot of high sulfur coal in power plants.

3. Power production is  a big part of how acid rain forms. Another big mark it automobiles. Lightening and biological processes make nitrogen naturally.

Mudslide Article

  • Some natural factors causing mudslides in Guatemala are earthquakes, hurricanes and heavy rains which makes the earth less stable. Guatemala also has muddy soil.

  • Some human factors causing mudslides in Guatemala are that they cut down the trees so that they have fields for crops, they also use the trees for fire wood. The trees hold down the earth and protect the people from mudslides.

  • What is being done to help reduce mudslides and mudslide damage?
  • They are going to try to plant trees. They trees will also provide food, shade, and fertilizer. Pine trees have roots that are 6 meters underneath the earths surface so a mudslide wouldn't rip them out.

The more rainfall there is the soil is better. With more water the soil will be more moist which is better for plants to grow in.  The rain will help keep the topsoil fertile.

  •  1. I don't know what the global temperature is, but if I had to make a guess i would say it would be around 60 degrees. I think this because it is the average around the whole earth.

  • 2. I think that the temperate has increased a lot over the past 100 years. Probably by around 2 degrees  or something around there but that it still a lot for only 100 years.

3. The hottest the earth has ever been is when it was being formed. The lowest it has been was probably a long time ago, over thousands of years ago.

4. I am concerned about global warming because it is ruining the planet. Also it is killing many things like animals. It is also making the ocean hotter which is killing polar bears and melting the ice caps. Also when the ice caps melt it will cover some of the earth and will raise the sea levels.
